quick setup
why should I put my videos in iTunes?
While iTunes began as a tool to manage your music library, this is no longer the case. It’s the portal to the iTunes store and your external devices. And it also beautifully organizes your movies and TV Shows. If they are in the right format. And that’s where VideoDrive comes in.
the purpose of VideoDrive
iTunes only supports the import of MP4, M4V and MOV video files. If you drag such a file into your iTunes library, the file will show up in the movies section. VideoDrive handles all your other video formats as well. And it will add descriptions, artwork and put TV episodes in the TV show section. Ready to be watched in Front Row, streamed to other iTunes libraries or on any of your external devices.
The rule of thumb is: “if the videos plays in QuickTime, you can add it with VideoDrive”. VideoDrive supports mov, mpg, mpeg, mp4, m4v, avi, wmv, m2v, flv, wma, divx, mkv, asf, dv, 3gp, ogg, ogv, gif, xvid, flac and omg video formats. For this, we recommend installing the Perian and Flip4Mac codecs.
