At the bottom of the metadata editor, click the ‘Save as Preset’ button to save all settings you entered. Presets are saved in the folder /Users/YourName/Library/Application Support/VideoDrive/Presets. If you add an image on the Artwork tab, it will be saved to the /Users/YourName/Library/Application Support/VideoDrive/Artwork.

Later, you can load your previously saved preset by clicking the ‘Load Preset’ button. This is a great way to create a set of presets for different occasions (episodes of multiple TV shows, your home videos, ...).

Note: while it’s possible to save presets in other folders than the default folder, this is not recommended as VideoDrive will no longer be able to save the preset automatically (see below).

introduction

Do you find yourself typing in the same metadata in the Metadata Editor? Or do you make the same corrections over and over again in the window with the online metadata search results? Or do you want to give all your TV show episodes the same artwork? Metadata Presets is the solution for you!

A Metadata Preset is a set of parameters that specify which metadata needs to be added to your videos. You can load created presets in the metadata edtitor, or you can let VideoDrive load them automatically.

Don’t type the same metadata or select the same artwork over and over. Use Metadata Presets instead.

The results found online can also be saved as Metadata Presets. In the confirmation window that shows you the results found online, click the ‘Save as Preset’ button to create a preset. Similarly, click the ‘Load Preset’ button to load it again. Metadata Presets created in the Metadata Editor can also be loaded in the online results window and vice-versa.

The Metadata Preset created in this way, will contain a link to the online results page. You can see this link in the Online tab of the Metadata Editor. When this metadata is automatically loaded (see next paragraph), VideoDrive will download the metadata from that URL. Note that any information present on the Description tab will be overwritten in this process.

While you can load presets manually as explained above, there’s also a powerful way to load them automatically. Enable the option “Match metadata presets” on the Metadata tab of Preferences. With this option enabled, VideoDrive will compare the name of the video file (movie name or TV show name) with the list of existing metadata presets. If the name are the same, the preset will be loaded. This is particularly if you want to add episodes of the same TV show over time while assigning customized artwork.
